The Breft System is used by the UPS to train industry workers in the extraction, refining, and transport of raw materials, chiefly minerals. Apprentices of the Breft Trade School are often sent to Breft 3's surface to study volcanic science, or else into the planet's rings to research the formation of moons. One of the final projects is to construct a spacecraft capable of passing safely through the radiation field and return with minerals harvested from the outer asteroid belts.
