musketeer-class Destroyer

It is common sense never to stare down the barrel of a gun. Golbersson Starforge reinforced this wisdom with the design of their first destroyer, the Musketeer-class.

Whether heading directly at its target, or directly away, the Musketeer can bring its full array of plasma cannons and coilguns to bear.

Keeping with the tradition of Golbersson's other warships, it is smothered in armor plating, and beneath it heavy bulkheads.

One unique feature of the Musketeer is that the deck layout is similar to pre-Zipp spacecraft, where crew's heads pointed toward the bow of the craft. An advantage of this in the modern age is that acceleration can simulate gravity, allowing artificial gravity generators to be switched off during the more gentle maneuvers.

The prevalence of Musketeers during the struggle for UPS independence is likely what ensured their victory. The sheer firepower and durability meant that invading SCO warships, even though more technologically advanced, were at a disadvantage when pitted against ships designed to outgun and outlast.

Class: Musketeer

Dimensions: 1000m

Impulse: 1

Although equipped with hoglium artificial gravity generators and plating, the Musketeer's decks are oriented perpendicularly to its engines, allowing for its crew to benefit from gravity simulated during acceleration maneuvers. An added advantage of the layout is that decks may be separated by substantial layers of bulkheads.
