Vendetta-class Corvette

The irony of the Vendetta-class corvette is that while other starship manufacturers were rushing to catch up with Groush & Balg Tribals large and imposing Noujesh-class destroyer, the Gor Adukk Ma were discovering that their fleet lacked the smaller and more nimble craft that could serve as picket ships or interceptors.

To fill this demand for small warships, Groush & Balg developed the Vendetta-class corvette. Benefiting from generations of orc starship technology, the Vendetta is faster, more maneuverable, better armored, and comparably armed to competitors in its size rating.

Early tests of the Vendetta during Gozmosh found that not only could its point-defense systems eliminate incoming fighters and torpedoes, but with the opening it created, proceed to engage larger warships including frigates and damaged destroyers, giving space for their capital ships to move in and take the kill and with its forward hangar bay hatch allows for it to launch a single fighter, further extending its capacity to pursue or intercept other craft.

Now that the Vendetta is commercially available, it's favored by independent contractors, system police, and privateers.

The Vendetta-class corvette's adaptive landing struts allow it to stay level even on slightly uneven terrain.

Collapsible boarding ramps may be extended from the port and starboard hatches, and a larger ramp from the cargo hold.

Vendettas serving as independent patrol craft often outfit the cargo ramp with fighter launch systems for rapid deployment of interceptor craft.

Upper Deck

The Vendetta's upper deck houses the officer's quarters, which offer dorsal viewports and are considerably more luxurious than enlisted crew bunks on the main deck. This deck has the sensor and navigation stations. Dorsal engine maintenance may be performed through aft corridors.

Main Deck

The Vendetta's main deck contains most of ship's necessary stations, minimizing use of lifts and keeping crew readiness high. The bridge is positioned at the bow of the craft with armored viewports. This is against conventional design, but suggests a strong orc ethos of facing your enemy head-on. Nearby is a briefing room, communications station, and the ship's computer core. Midship holds the majority of crew accommodations including the ship's mess, recreational room, heads and showers, and crew bunks. Astern is found the engineering section, workshop, and Zipp Drive, as well as the medical bay and life support generator.

Lower Deck

The Vendetta's lower deck serves as its hold and access points. The main cargo hatch is abow with a cargo bay capable of holding a small fighter craft or vehicles. A corridor runs the length of the deck, giving access to the ship's lifts, airlocks, as well as the two holds. Aft access tunnels allow maintenance of the ventral engines and internal access to the fuel reservoirs.

Critics of the Vendetta's design note the lack of a brig anywhere on the ship, however captains of such ships point out that prisoners kept in an airlock, a simple decompression away from death, are very well-behaved.

Vendetta's Frame

The Vendetta's frame sacrifices core strength for overall stability, with smaller beams in extensive systems. The exception, however, is that its aft engine frames are thick and designed to withstand the excessive acceleration afforded by its standard set of Vektortek engines as well as the torsional forces applied by the engine's vectoring fins. The frame's most notable weakness is its bow, which is susceptible to catastrophic damage from direct collisions. This is made even more devastating by the fact that the ship's bridge is located on the bow.
