Vaneldoun-class Shuttle

The Vaneldoun-class shuttle is a small transport shuttle designed by Stroalsent Spinnerspace. A popular video recording later used to advertise the shuttle's capabilities is of celebrity critic Bonny Sugarhips falling asleep during her first atmospheric descent and, upon landing, jerking awake and demanding "Tell me when we get there."

The Vaneldoun is another huge departure from conventional spacecraft design. Its wide cylindrical cabin, with central helm station, is oriented over the engines. This allows for acceleration maneuvers to provide simulated gravity, although the ship is equipped with artificial gravity generators. In addition to its engines, it also uses a set of articulating propellers that can provide drag and lift in atmospheric conditions, while also allowing the pilot to adjust the center of gravity during maneuvers. Crew and passengers may enter through the dorsal hatch or a ventral ramp.

The most controversial aspect of the Vaneldoun is that it lacks any weaponry, and with its unusual frame, lacks any suitable hardpoints for installing them. Stroalsent Spinnerspace has stated that this is intentional, and that the shuttle is designed to resemble a flower and thus represents peace, comfort, and beauty.

The Vaneldoun consists mostly of one large pressurized chamber containing passenger seating and the cockpit. A circular ramp provides access to the heads, maintenance, and storage compartments, as well as the boarding ramp. The dorsal airlock, positioned above the cockpit, contains an elevator for lowering people or cargo to the deck level.
