Shorgul-class Tanker

Originally conceived as a bulk freighter for fuel and other liquids, Shorgul-class prototypes had a tendency of falling victim to fuel pirates, or more benign spacecraft who wished to pay to siphon fuel instead of the premium they would have to pay at an orbital fueling station.

Eventually, Groush & Balg Tribals chose to retrofit the Shorguls with docking bays and articulating fueling arms. Now they serve on most large fleets to extend their range. Other Shorguls still serve as liquid bulk freighters, and others do strike out on their own to offer fueling services to stranded spacecraft.

Shorgul tankers are notoriously slow and have little in the way of armament. However, even fuel-hungry pilots are careful in picking fights, since a stray shot might ignite a fuel tank, causing a enormous explosion.

The Shorgul's deck layout is dense and narrow, with most of its interior space running the length of central frame, while the majority of the ship's volume is dedicated to liquid storage. This makes the Shorgul unviable as anything other than a support craft, it also limits the the number of crew that can comfortably operate the ship.
