Craven-class Escape Pod

The Groush & Balg Tribals' escape pod design was initially met by ridicule from the orc community at large. The notion of running from a fight, particularly one in space, was hugely dissonant.

The Craven-class escape pod was commissioned by SCO since Astrojinx considered small low-tech survival craft to be below their scope and expertise.

The escape pod was designed based on some of the earliest spacecraft, including an egg-shaped frame for self-righting center of gravity, drag flaps for atmospheric deceleration, ablative armor to reduce the damage of re-entry, and a miniaturized flight computer that automatically lands the craft on the nearest, and most survivable planet.

Modern features include landing legs, thrusters, and supplies for prolonged survival.

In present orc culture, Cravens are used in a popular sport called "fried eggs", which involves overriding the pod's flight computer and then being dropped from orbit and seeing who can activate the fins and thrusters last without crashing.
